At SXSW in 2010 Monsters was screened to an excited audience who had heard of a revolutionary, “real world” monster film. Once the film rights were acquired Vertigo Films asked Social Media Thunder to support the film with a social media campaign that wove together “infected areas” that could be discovered through FourSqauare, collect rewards and then share your success socially.

The film earned over $4m globally on a very limited release. The success of this film has since propelled the writer and director, Gareth Edwards, to become the latest director of the forthcoming Star Wars Episode 8.
